| Slow moving Delta waters |
We were on our way before dawn as it was a long drive from Gabs to Maun. There are 2 main options to get to Maun, either via Palapye or via Ghanzi. We decided on the latter even though it is an hour longer, just because it’s a much quieter road.
And it was a good choice. Even though it’s a 4 day long weekend in Botswana, the whole drive wasn’t too busy with mostly cows, goats and wild ostriches that you needed to look out for. We made good time, arriving in Maun just before 4pm.

Although we’d originally planned to stay at Audi Camp we decided to check out nearby Crocodile Camp first and then decided to stay there instead with each campsite having its own ablutions, kitchen, braai stand and fire pit.
After filling with fuel and setting up the tent, it was time to crack open a beer to start our holiday, go down to the restaurant to have some pizza and nibbles and then get a good nights sleep to be up early to start our trip into the Delta.
