KTP - The Hidden Gem - Day 3

Thunderstorm over the KTP
Day 3
- Nossob
We were staying at Nossob for a second evening, so we decided to head North and check out that area.  We spent the morning driving all the way to Union’s End and back, only seeing one male lion sleeping in the distance at Polentswa.  We did see lots of lion spoor near the Grootkolk turnoff, so can only assume that we were just not lucky enough to see them, but that’s to be expected as it was stinking hot by then.

Bateleur
We did have some nice sightings of birds of prey however, catching 7 Lappet-faced vultures gathered together at an impromptu waterhole after the rains of the previous night.
Wildebeest
There was plenty of water on the roads as well; I know that sedans can drive all the way up, but I think there would have been some major problems trying to get through some of those very, very long puddles!  Luckily with the heat, they would soon dry up.

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful, though we did spend some time at the Kwang waterhole identifying the birds around.  Likewise, the evening back at camp was pretty quiet, except for the wind, which was so strong, that it actually flipped our rooftent over and shut – luckily we weren’t in it at the time!

Check out the sightings we had for the day
